"Guilin Revisited - Landscape Series"
In Mao Yi Gang's first solo exhibition with Schoeni Art Gallery, there will be 13 paintings on show together with the publication of an exhibition catalogue.
Mao Yi Gang was born in Beijing in 1958 and was graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with Bachelor of Arts.
2 years ago, Mao Yi Gang decided to travel to Guilin in search for tranquility and to find inspiration to his artistic career. Enthusiastically, he returned to his Beijing studio a few weeks later with many ideas.
Guilin is a vast piece of land nurturing various scenic spots. The river stretches 83 miles long from Guilin to Yang Shuo like never ending scrolls of landscape paintings, sparkling clear water in the midst of floating mist and rolling clouds. The wonderful sight of the water running in union alongside the mountains in such a spectacular harmony commands admiration.
This exhibition that features Guilin not only shows the scenes of the place but also the essence of Guilin. Mao Yi Gang aims at freshness, tranquility, forgetting the existence of oneself, so that man and nature are united as one entity.
With this unique series, we are drawn into another world and nature is the best healer for the broken heart of city dwellers.
Friends of the press are invited to interview Mao Yi Gang between 27 - 29 November 2002. For further enquiries in regard to the exhibition, please feel free to contact us.
