"Sculptures and Paintings"
Bernard Vié, a well-known French sculptor from Paris, will showcase his work at Schoeni Art Gallery from 16 January to 5 February 2003. The artist will be presenting 15 new bronze sculptures together with 15 of his acrylic paintings. This is his second exhibition at Schoeni Art Gallery.
Vié was born in 1948 and graduated from l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became an architect. Between 1973 and 1988, Vié spent his time on his professional occupation as an architect. Since then, he solely dedicates himself to sculptures. He has exposed his work around the world in various gallery exhibitions and his large monumental sculptures are being shown permanently in public places and large building spaces. His work represents how art can contribute a harmony between architecture and today's urban environment. Vié is known for his baroque bronze sculptures in Europe and his background as an architect accounts for his free theatrical movements and his sculptures exude deeply spiritual elements.
Bernard Vié has also excelled with his brush where he can fully explore his imaginations using elements of architecture and part baroque figures. His compositions are full of fantasies; the dream-like serenity, fine structure and the brilliant use of colours play an important role in his paintings.
Friends of the press are invited to interview Vié between 15 - 17 January 2003.
