Li You Song
"Once Upon a Time ..."
Paintings and Bronzes in Relief

27 February - 26 March 2003

Li You Song has a yearning for European traditional style paintings. His understandings of the use of oil and his sentimental feelings of a by-gone era have helped him to achieve a great technique in painting easily. Li received artistic training at Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. European masters like Da Vinci, Rubens, Rembrandt and Caravaggio have inspired Li You Song a great deal but Li would like to develop his own style that based on our Chinese art tradition and this made him devote himself into the research of folk art since 1988.

Li had further his studies and became a student of Mr Jin Zhi Lin in the Folk Art Department of the Central Academy and the door for his world of art opened. Li obtained a Master degree in 1994. You can find Li uses folk art techniques from the period between the Ming and Qing Dynasties in all of his paintings.

This exhibition provides an opportunity to enjoy 25 fascinating works of this intelligent artist including oil paintings, pastels on paper and bronzes in relief.
