Zhang Lin Hai
"Red Ear & Paradise Series"

15 April - 21 April 2004

Schoeni Art Gallery is proud to unveil a second solo show for Zhang Lin Hai in his "Red Ear & Paradise Series" after the great success of his last exhibition with us in 2002.

Zhang Lin Hai's paintings are reminiscent of his childhood in the countryside of Hebei province in China, where he was raised by his adopted farmer parents. He has not had an easy past, having been crippled by a severe sickness at 6 years old, his art is the result of melancholic thoughts he had while being sick in bed. His work frequently present fields of bald youths and sorghum, both covering the whole of the landscape and in some way imitating each other.

Zhang's work tells us his inner feelings. With his special gift to transform his dreams on to canvas, he let us in to his world as a young boy growing up with hope in the future.

Zhang Lin Hai is one of the finalists of 2004 Sovereign Annual Contemporary Asian Art Competition and he is also one of the participants in the ChinArt Exhibition, which has been shown in Duisburg at the Küppersmühle Museum, in Rome at the MACRO, Budapest at the Ludwig Museum and the most recently in Warsaw at the Modern Art Museum.
