and American Photographer Lawrence Schiller.

Hong Kong ArtWalk: Wednesday, 12 March 2008,
5pm - 12 midnight
Exhibition: 13 March - 12 April 2008

Venue: Schoeni Art Gallery, 21 - 31 Old Bailey Street, HK

Now in its eighth year, ArtWalk is Hong Kong's biggest art charity event. This year, over 50 galleries will open their doors between 5 pm to 12 midnight on Wednesday, 12th March 2008 and you can view an array of art in the SOHO, Wan Chai, Sheung Wan, Central and Happy Valley and with transportation to Aberdeen.

Schoeni Art Gallery will be presenting a selection of works for the participants of the Hong Kong ArtWalk by our Chinese Contemporary Exclusive and Associated Artists, Italian artist Omar Galliani and American Photographer Lawrence Schiller. This show will be highlighted by the launch of our new limited edition screen prints by five of our exclusive artists. Each are individually signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of 88.

Limited Edition Prints.

Schoeni Art Gallery has enlisted the expertise of Dong Ying Bao, who was the head technician of the printing studio at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing to play a leading role in producing and overseeing the making of these Limited Edition Prints. Five of Schoeni Art Gallery's exclusive artists have been specially selected to participate in this project for their critical acclaim and breadth of artistic expression within the thriving arena of contemporary Chinese art.

The final selection of artists is: Chen Yu, who is known for his cynical realism since the inception of his particular style that is characterised by linear rows of duplicated human heads whose subtle differences target specific social intrinsic values through satire; Shuai Mei, who is widely admired for her willowy figurative representations of the complexities of the Chinese modern woman; Wang Yi Guang, who is inspired by the humble beauty of the Tibetan plateau and paints with whimsy and imaginative verve on his topical and politically charged subject matter to infuse vernacular tradition with delight; Yu Chen who is celebrated for her trademark Red Babies who communicate with unpredictable visuals, and Zhang Lin Hai who is pre-eminent in his field of Post-modernism - his motif of bald young boys against a backdrop of a post-industrial arid wasteland is lauded by many.

Works by acclaimed and recognised Italian artist, Omar Galliani.

Omar Galliani has participated in three Venice Biennales, as well as numerous international exhibitions including, more recently, China. Galliani is an established artist, and his style of portraiture combines arresting realism with sensitive technical finesse to seamlessly blur the line between reality and supernatural mindfulness. For the past 30 years, Galliani's experimentation with form has evolved to greater imbibe the "soul" of his subjects within his works. Since the 80s, Galliani has exhibited an almost clairvoyant awareness of rich, spiritual nuances and dynamically combines the serenity of Oriental meditation and mantra with Western spirituality and iconography.

Photographs of Marilyn Monroe and America in the 1960s by celebrated and award winning photographer/writer/filmmaker Lawrence Schiller.

The 60s was a time of radical change, and denotes a time of unfolding complex patterns in inter-related political and cultural revolution. Schiller captures this national dialogue, and his works visually echo some of the greatest moments and personalities that we remember decades on. Examples include the serendipitous and widely sought after portraits of America's sweetheart and notorious sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe and of Bobby Kennedy, who represented the last great hope of the sixties, on his last campaign before he was tragically assassinated.

We hope you join us on ArtWalk night and support this charity event.

Tickets will be on sale from 20 February at Schoeni Art Gallery (Hollywood Road Branch) and other the galleries situated along Hollywood Road and Wyndham Street.
