Schoeni Art Gallery, Main Branch
Following the tradition for the past 8 years, Schoeni Art Gallery will once again participate in Hong Kong's best known art charity event, Hong Kong ArtWalk 2009. It is a once in a year opportunity in which one could contribute to charity while at the same time viewing a plethora of art, along with fine wine and canapés within an extended area from Soho to Aberdeen. With up to 64 galleries participating this year, all Hong Kong ArtWalk 2009 raised donations will benefit the Society for Community Organisation (SoCO). Proceeds raised will be used in SoCO's proactive community work, original social policy research and advocacy role.
Year 2008 has been a year of tremendous instability and unexpected changes, and it is with enthusiasm that we welcome the coming of a new year 2009, in the hope that it will bring new optimism and opportunities. It is for this reason that the Schoeni Art Gallery will be presenting the Hong Kong ArtWalk exhibition with a specially arranged section of this exhibition under the theme: "Art-fordable".
As the world is experiencing a downturn with lots of uncertainties, we believe that art will be ever more significant to us, for it embodies love and life. It is an integral part of us that we do not wish to live without, therefore we have focused this exhibition on reaching out to customers and delivering good value, with limited edition prints under HKD20,000 and original works ranging from HKD5,000 to HKD50,000. With this large variety of exceptional artworks, Schoeni Art Gallery will demonstrate that art continues to be affordable and art lovers will still be able to own a piece of art they love without having to "break the bank". The art-fordable collection consists of both unique originals and prints from a wide selection of up to 30 artists from all over the world.
In addition to the "Art-fordable" collection, we will also exhibit works by our exclusive talents: Chen Li, Chen Yu, Dai Dai, Shen Hua, Shuai Mei, Wang Yi Guang, Yu Chen, Zhang Lin Hai and Zhao Fang. The exhibition will be a display of an ample medley of artworks that will surely provide the Hong Kong ArtWalk audience with as much diversity as possible.

Hong Kong ArtWalk - SoCO Cage Home Exhibition
In continual support of the organisation's charitable mission, Schoeni Art Gallery will be showcasing the SoCO Cage Home Exhibition at our branch gallery on Hollywood Road from 11 to 18 March 2009. The SoCO exhibition is jointly organised with ArtWalk, and will feature a life-size installation of Hong Kong's well-known "Cage Home". The HK SAR Government estimates that there are up to 100,000 underprivileged people who are forced to live in inadequate accommodations such as the cage home, which can be found in areas like Tak Kok Tsui and Shum Shui Po. Many of these unfortunate members of society include children, the elderly, women, handicapped and low-income workers. Throughout the years, SoCO's "Cage-Home and Old Private Housing Project" has provided consultation services to these victims and assistance in helping them receive public housing. For more information about SoCO, please visit their website: www.soco.org.hk.
Tickets, priced at HK$420 (adults) and HK$100 (tertiary students), will be on sale from 20 February 2009 at galleries situated along Hollywood Road and Wyndham Street, including Schoeni Art Gallery (Hollywood Road Branch). For more information on ArtWalk, please visit their official website: www.hongkongartwalk.com (ArtWalk 2008 is still online and specific details about ArtWalk 2009 will be online in early February 2009).
