As we share the community of thought held by Renate Kant toward the importance of Art preservation and conservation, Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd is pleased to be contributing to this special program that is unique to Southeast Asia. The motives behind specialist restoration techniques is to preserve the living legacy of our cultural heritage, and we feel very strongly that the stages of art restoration and treatment should be professionally undertaken to the highest of standards. Hong Kong climate, with its high humidity levels poses a serious threat to the life span of paintings, and it is crucially important to avoid and stave off the rapid decline of quality through weathering and environmental damage by taking preventative measures.
Renate Kant, Director of Renate Kant Studio for Conservation and Restoration Pte Ltd, Singapore will be visiting to give an informed talk, followed by a brief discussion on how we can best avoid the irreversible damage of time by giving a series of handling tips and preventative measures. Miss Kant will give a brief outline on the history of Restoration techniques tying in the highest goal of restoration as being to maintain the original. Asian painting requires special treatment to maintain and protect the cultural and literal value of our wealth of unique work.
Miss Renate Kant has gained specialized knowledge and experience from 30 years in her profession, and was trained as a restorer at the Berlin State Museums as well as being a member or the German Federation of Restorers. The list of paintings restored by Renate Kant includes many important artists such as Jakob von Ruisdael and Eugèue Delacroix. (Mrs. Kant's profile is available upon request.)
This is an unique opportunity for art lovers to learn about the fine art of conservation and the care and maintenance of their paintings from one of the foremost experts in the field.
