Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd is delighted to re-invite Renate Kant, the Artistic Director and Chief Conservator of the Studio for Conservation and Restoration Pte Ltd - SINGAPORE, back to Hong Kong.
Due to the success of last year's informative educational lecture, Every Good Painting Cracks: Art Demands Attention, conservation will become a regularly discussed topic, as we share the common belief in the importance of art preservation and conservation. Due to Hong Kong's climate with its high humidity and pollution levels, it is crucial that we all pay urgent attention to this serious threat of deterioration posed to the lifespan of paintings, and it is crucially important to avoid and stave off the rapid decline of organic materials through environmental damage by taking preventive measures.
The motive behind specialist conservation and restoration techniques is to preserve the living legacy of our cultural heritage, and we feel very strongly that all treatments of art conservation and restoration should be professionally undertaken to the highest of standards.
Ms. Renate Kant has gained specialized knowledge and experience with 35 years in her profession. She was trained as a conservator at the Berlin State Museums and is a member of the German Conservators Association. The list of paintings restored by Renate Kant include European Art from the 15th to 20th Century; Southeast Asian Art by nearly all well known artists, often with complex cases; and Contemporary Chinese Paintings.
Renate will offer her professional expertise through consultations and informational exchange in how to keep the aesthetic and financial value of your masterpieces. Art lovers can bring their artwork for assessment to Schoeni Art Gallery, or arrange a house visit, to discuss any damages and environmental conditions in relation to their collection (by appointment only).
Ms. Kant's visit comes at an ideal time, as auctions in Hong Kong are scheduled later in the year; those who are contemplating putting works on auction, and are considering the need for conservation so as to gain a respective price, can now consult Renate's expertise.
Renate Kant will be available for consultation between the 22nd and 25th November 2006 by appointment only at Schoeni Art Gallery's main branch. House visits are also invited.
A fee of HK$500 will be charged for consultation within the gallery (transportation of the painting can be arranged, not included in the fee) and HK$1,000 for in-house visits.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for your queries and more information.
