YOGANANTH ANDIAPPAN
Yoga from the heart
Yoga from the Heart Photo Exhibition
Thursday 31 May 2007, Schoeni Art Gallery, Hollywood Road Branch, Hong Kong
6:30 - 8:30 pm
Schoeni Art Gallery is pleased to showcase stunning photographic images of asanas (postures) selected from the book Yoga from the Heart, to mark the official launch of the book.
The book is a collection of four hundred beautifully taken extraordinary asanas chosen from a few thousand, many of which have never been photographed before. Indeed it is the first and only Yoga book featuring the most number of postures and languages in one book.
Even though Yoga is now more popular than ever, many people do not recognize it as an art form. Yogananth Andiappan, who from the age of two started learning Yoga "from the heart", is a living manifestation of this art form. After more than two decades of practice, he has a deep understanding of his body and yoga itself. The strength, stability, body alignment and symmetry in appearance, as well as the gracefulness of the postures themselves, can only be expressed by a dedicated practitioner like him.
The framed photographic images will be for sale that night and all proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Children's Cancer Foundation.
Ms. Nicole Schoeni, Director of the Schoeni Art Gallery believes "This photo exhibition and the book Yoga from the Heart will offer an inspiration to all Yoga lovers and Art lovers alike."

The Foundation serves child cancer patients in the public hospitals, particularly Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Prince of Wales, Princess Margaret and Tuen Mun hospitals where these patients receive comprehensive medical care. Where necessary, certain aspects of our services are also extended to patients in private hospitals.
In November 1993, the Foundation's first Family Service Centre opened in Wong Tai Sin to provide patient support, which includes medical, psychological, financial, social, informational, educational, developmental, and any other necessary support, as well as research.
The Foundation places great emphasis on the psychosocial well-being of the child cancer patients and their families. To this end, the Family Service Centre provides a base for important psychosocial patient service programmes in the areas of counselling, playwork, palliative home care, long-term follow-up care, financial and social support, and education. The Foundation's professional team now comprises: a clinical psychologist, a centre-in-charge, four family counsellors, a hospital play co-ordinator, three hospital play specialists, an education and development co-ordinator and a welfare worker.
