SCHOENI ART GALLERY @ MIART 2006

This year MiArt, International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art, which will be held in Milan from 30 March to 2 April 2006, will be focusing on China, which will be the special guest country of this 11^th event.

In response to a growing interest that the Chinese art phenomenon is arousing in Italy and Europe, China will be at the centre of a series of initiatives, leading to the 1 April 2006 round table on the phenomenon of Chinese art, entitled: "CINA INTRA / EXTRA OVEST", coordinated by MiArt and Galleria Continua, curated with Hans Ulrich Obrist.

The round table will provide an occasion for the intersection of different contributions from Chinese and international artists, curators and collectors: Ai Weiwei and Huang Yongping, Li Xianting and Hou Hanru, Guan Yi and Uli Sigg.

The idea is to observe the Chinese art scenario through the superimposition of various perceptions gathered from inside China and from the West, intra and extra geographical and non-geographical borders.

The project also intends to extend event participation to several of the most influential Chinese galleries, including Schoeni Art Gallery, which will be together for the first time in a single show, and whose presence will offer an important contribution to the creation of a wider critical space, as well as constituting an opportunity for exchange and interaction with the most recent Italian and international artistic experiences.
