|
Schoeni Art Gallery is delighted to announce our latest exhibition The Chen Family in association with Today Art Museum's gallery in Beijing on 13 April 2008 that will showcase the greatly anticipated work by the Chen family for the second time. By now, many will recognise the familiar faces of Yu Chen's Red Babies Series and Chen Yu's linear rows of multiple selves poised in satirical uniformity. This is, however, the youngest sibling Chen Li's second debut as an artist in his own right, and Schoeni Art Gallery, along with his elder two siblings are united in their support of not only his potential, but also his clearly defined talent.

2006.11.22 - 2006.11.25 | "ART IN TIME - CONSERVE YOUR MASTERPIECES"
|
Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd is delighted to re-invite Renate Kant, the Artistic Director and Chief Conservator of the Studio for Conservation and Restoration Pte Ltd - SINGAPORE, back to Hong Kong.
Due to the success of last year's informative educational lecture, Every Good Painting Cracks: Art Demands Attention, conservation will become a regularly discussed topic, as we share the common belief in the importance of art preservation and conservation. Due to Hong Kong's climate with its high humidity and pollution levels, it is crucial that we all pay urgent attention to this serious threat of deterioration posed to the lifespan of paintings, and it is crucially important to avoid and stave off the rapid decline of organic materials through environmental damage by taking preventive measures.

2006.10.6 - 2006.10.10 | Schoeni Art Gallery @ Art Beijing 2006
|
Asia's most exciting contemporary art fair, Art Beijing 2006, will take place in the heart of Beijing in autumn 2006, with a Preview Evening for invited guests on October 5th. Along with the development of the Chinese economy, the contemporary art market is expanding rapidly in China. Art Beijing 2006 aims to promote the local Chinese art market and establish itself as the most important contemporary art fair in Asia with world-wide influence and recognition. The art fair will include over 100 art galleries from China, Asia, the USA, Europe and Latin America, offering a window on to the local contemporary art market and recent developments in the art scene.
Schoeni Art Gallery will be participating in this exciting art fair, focusing solely on its exclusive artists; Chen Yu, Chen Li, Dai Dai, Liu Hong Yuan, Shen Hua, Shuai Mei, Wang Yi Guang, Yu Chen, Zhao Fang, Zhang Lin Hai and Zhou Jin Hua.
Highlight: In addition we are delighted to announce that Zhu Yi Yong's highly anticipated exhibition debut entitled Memories will first take place at Art Beijing, where one out of our two booths will be solely devoted to the exhibition of these works. (Exhibition will also take place at Schoeni Art Gallery's main branch in Hong Kong from 9 November - 6 December 2006.)
The motif of the children's game Cat's Cradle is whimsically rendered at the forefront of all the canvases in Memories to great effect, not least for its recollection of Chinas most famous symbol in its history of Revolution, the red star. Pitched starkly into relief by its monochromatic backdrop, the gaps in the vibrant scarlet string, as it is plied apart by bewitchingly posed fingers, are in fact a day-glo portal from which the subject looming in the backdrop peers defiantly out of. Zhu Yi Yong thus artistically detonates this multi-faceted symbol with connotations of a tremulous political past whilst it simultaneously suggests notions of anti-materialism and a vision of renewal in the current climate of change and progress, as it is seen by China's ever growing population.

| Tribute to the late Founder of Schoeni Art Gallery
|
By now, most of you would have heard of the tragic loss of our gallery's founder, Mr. Manfred Schoeni, who passed away on the 2nd of May 2004.
He has left behind his devoted staff, artists, family and friends, who will all miss him. His energy and vigour for life was almost contagious and one could not help but be charged by his charisma. He will live on in all of us.

| History of Schoeni Art Gallery
|
Steering his dream into reality, in 1992 Schoeni Gallery Ltd, the creation of Manfred Schoeni, opened its doors to the public. Centrally located in the heart of Hong Kong's SOHO area, it was with incredible entrepreneurial vision that Manfred Schoeni forged an unprecedented artistic liaison with China and exhibited their works internationally. Manfred Schoeni's greatest ambition was to devote his life to art, and soon his gallery space, with an impressive 3,000 square feet, became home to some of the first exhibitions of pioneering Chinese and Russian artists.
