in Fuzhou, Fujian province, China.
1973 graduated
from high school, began working at the FuzhouNumber Two
Lacquerware Factory as
an apprentice artist.
1974 Began
to study painting under Hong Wei Zhong and Liang Gui Yuan.
Later studied drawing
and Chinese painting under Xu Jin Bao.
1975 Employed
at the Fuzhou Art Company;
studied oil painting with
Lin You Guang.
1978 Enrolled
in the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Academy of
of Fine Art. Studied
under Gao You Lin, XuYong Xiang, Jin Yi De, Hu
Zhen Yu, Xu Man Yao, Quan
Shan Shi.
1982 Graduated
from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art; taught in the Art
Department of Fujian Normal
University.
1984 Oil
painting "Today and Tomorrow" awarded a prize in the Second
Annual Fujian Youth Art
Exhibition.
1985 Began
graduate study in the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art under Quan
Shan Shi. Painted
"The Reef" "Summer on the Beach" and "Sunrise".
Works shown in the First
Annual Oil Painting Exhibition at the Academy.
1986 Painted
"Up and Down the Great River," exhibited in All-China Historical
Revolutionary Portraits
Exhibition.
1988 Held
graduation exhibition, successfully defended Master's thesis,
The Sense
of Orderly Space in Painting. Obtained Master's degree,
began teaching at the
Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art.
1989 Painted
"The Yellow Umbrella," won a prize in the 7th National
Exhibition of Fine Arts
of China and exhibited in the USA; paintings
"Women in Embroidered
Dress" and "Still Life with Old Bottles"
exhibited in Japan and
sold to Japanese collectors.
1990 Painting
"Swimming" won a prize in the 2nd National Exhibition of
Sports Fine Arts of China;
painting "Clouds at Sunset" won a prize at
a national oil painting
competition and was purchased by a Japanese
collector and widely published.
Painting "Noon," "The Pool,"
"Decorated Handkerchiefs"
exhibited in Nanking and Taiwan.
1991 Travelled
to Japan. Painting "Morning Breezes," "Woman Washing
Clothing," "Aunts"
shown and sold in Japan and Hong Kong.
1992 Painting
"Revolutionary Pioneer" acquired by the Zhang Taiyan
Memorial Museum; "Summer
Lotus" shown in a Hong Kong
exhibition; "The
Lily Pond" shown in Singapore; "Morning Song"
exhibited in Beijing.
Began working with Schoeni Art Gallery Ltd,
Hong Kong.
